Can my stomach really get any bigger?

We went to Long Beach, WA this past week for several days of relaxation. While we were there, Wendel did a little photo shoot with me. Here I am at 29 1/2 weeks.

Last week, my supervisor at work asked me if I'm sure that I'm not having twins. She told me my stomach was a lot bigger than just a couple of days prior. I was kind of surprised that she said that - I know my stomach is big but does it look that big? It certainly feels big. My back aches all the time from the extra weight of this little guy. (Luckily, Wendel got me a massage chair overlay that I can put over my office chair as one of my Christmas gifts, which has been so nice. I am also determined to start doing yoga and exercising in some way. It has been very difficult to find the time up to this point and with starting grad school on Tuesday, I'm not sure how these goals are going to fit in, but I really want to try.)

Also, I'm loosing my mind. I am experiencing the "pregnancy brain" I've heard about. Here's an example: The other morning I could not find my keys. I was running late for work and was so frustrated. I spent about fifteen minutes searching before I realized that they were in the car - I had turned on the car to warm it up and forgot about them. I have done many other similar things but of course I can't remember them now. Typical.

I'm also having a difficult time getting up (out of bed, off the couch, out of the car, etc.) It's kind of funny to watch, I'm sure.

Other than that, time is going by quickly and things are going well. I'm glad Christmas is over though - there were so many sugary temptations. I put a bunch of candy and treats in a big bag this morning and sent them with Wendel to work to distribute. My doctor doesn't even want me to drink much juice, let alone eat candy. It's hard being pregnant during the holidays and trying to eat healthy without wavering (homemade caramels are so divine).

My next doctor's appointment is on January 12th. This is the one where I have to take the glucose test. I've heard it's not too fun. Wish me luck!

  1. Your doctor is CRAZY. Drink as much juice as you want. You are not big. You are not gaining too much weight. You look perfect! I'm serious. Stop listening to her. Just make sure your baby is okay and then stop listening - she shouldn't be making you feel bad for gaining weight - does she not remember that you have a person growing inside you???? Glad you enjoyed your trip. You look beautiful in your pictures!

  3. You do look beautiful! And I agree with Ashlee, I've never heard to avoid juice or sugar while you're pregnant unless you have gestational diabetes. I can't believe Dr. Herner is telling you these things. Christmas is the best time to be pregnant because you can eat all the good stuff withOUT feeling guilty, dangit! You look GREAT.

  4. You look so beautiful. I don't think you look like you are gaining too much weight at all. Enjoy these last few months. He is so lucky to have you guys as his parents. Can't wait to see you in less than 2 weeks.

  5. all docs have their little things. i'm not a big juice and sugar fan anyways. only hubby drinks alot of juice around here. hope you don't mind a bit of unsolicited advice regarding the glucose test...schedule it first thing in the morning and DO NOT EAT before hand. no matter what your doc says. believe me...you DO NOT want to do the 3 hour test, which will happen if you fail the 1 hr. and the 3 hr. is WAY worse. i followed my docs advice on how to eat for the test and ended up taking the 3 hr. with Quen and after that i followed the lab techs advice for the other 3 and didn't have a prob passing the first test. actually, this last time, the tech told me, almost all the 3 hrs she's seen were b/c the ladies ate before their one hr b/c their docs said it was fine and then failed. the 3 hr. literally made me sick. i wouldn't risk it. just FYI. scheduling it FIRST thing prevents you from getting too hungry and feeling too jittery. hope it works out. good luck. you LOOK AMAZING! boys are bigger than girls and everyone carries different. you are gonna feel huge no matter what anyone says so just ignore the ones who say dumb stuff about if it looks big cuz you are doing great! there's a full on BABY body in there. isn't that incredible???

  6. You look beautiful! Glad things are going well so far. My doctor told me all the extra weight I gained, I would just have to lose, but she didn't tell me what to eat or not. I really liked her. =) You started out pretty slender & if that's the case, you have to gain more weight than the standard, you certainly don't look like you have gained too much.
I can't believe you are so far along already. Hope things are good at school. Did you get that extra class out of the way or find a way around it? Loved your Christmas card. Cute pic!
